Special Episode: Creating Online Courses with Kelly Swanson and Laurie Guest

Play

I recently had the honor of participating in a live group chat on the topic of creating innovative online courses and training products. My two co-hosts for this event were customer service expert, secret shopper and professional speaker, Laurie Guest, who you may remember from episode 7, and motivational speaker, comedienne and expert on the art of storytelling, Kelly Swanson.

Both Laurie and Kelly are about to launch their flagship online products; both extremely engaging and creative, and each fully taking advantage of the Revizzit platform’s unique set of tools. Laurie Guest has created Guest Encounters, which she likens to being “the Netflix of Customer Service”. Rather than being a course, Guest Encounters is eTraining – a prescription to fix one of the most common ailments plaguing nearly every business – how to master the customer experience. Laurie’s model is a service add-on for companies she consults for, and isn’t available to the general public.

Kelly Swanson has a more traditional online course model, though one brimming with innovative touches and highly engaging features. Her course, Story Impact Academy, uses gamification techniques to certify the graduates. There are video studies, complete with humorous examples from Kelly’s performances, and no shortage of homework to complete! Each homework assignment when completed unlocks the next lesson, unless the student is at a review point in the program, where Kelly personally assesses their progress and sends along her notes – and perhaps the code to unlock the next lesson, if they’ve studied hard!

My team and I consulted and designed both of these courses, paying special attention to achieving the goals each had set out to accomplish, and employing Revizzit’s unparalleled suite of technology features and special widgets.

If you’ve ever considered developing an online course, digital product or eTraining program, I think you’ll find this episode to be extremely helpful in both your creative development, and in your confidence to get started and begin generating passive, high-ticket revenue.
